On Mar. 1, 1980, observations of Saturn from Pic-du-Midi Observatory using a Lallemand electronographic camera led to the discovery of a new satellite (i.e., Dione B) whose orbital period is surprisingly similar to that of Dione. The new satellite exhibits stellar-like appearance, faint magnitude near that of the E ring, location close to the equatorial plane, and large proper motion with respect to the star field but slow motion along the equator.
