It is shown that the solar atmosphere resonance between fast MHD and gravito-acoustic waves reported by Hollweg (1979) is spurious, in the absence of genuine forcing terms. Without such external forcing terms, the equations can only yield a dispersion relation from which it is possible to determine the natural modes of the system. The discussion presented is confined to the isothermal case, although the arguments are valid for the adiabatic case as well.
