We propose to exploit the high sensitivity and large bandwidths of the MOPRA telescope to study the physical and chemical conditions of our new promising sample of massive high extinction clouds. Our sample was compiled using a novel method that extended near infrared extinction mapping to longer (mid-IR) wavelengths. With these observations we will likely probe the high mass end of clouds partly missed by surveys using other selection criteria. Since the most massive cores will be rare, it is crucial to increase our knowledge of these sources in an unbiased fashion.
