Available times of minima are used to derive a period of 2.9042997 d for the eclipsing binary VZ Hydrae, and, although significant period changes do not appear to have occurred in this binary, it is suggested from the O-C diagram that the period of the system has a slow tendency to increase. Four period changes were found in the 1918-1978 interval, with upward trends appearing stronger than the declining trends. Secondary minima show larger fluctuations than those of the primary minima. Sinusoidal variations noted in the O-C values may be indicative of the presence of a third body.
