The evolution of a system composed of a great many gravitationally interacting bodies that amalgamate upon contact is examined. The bodies move in the gravitational field of a massive central body (the sun or a planet). Their orbits are coplanar and initially circular. As the system evolves, material condenses in annular zones which develop into planets with preferentially direct axial rotation. The formation of the terrestrial and the Jovian planets is modeled by computer numerical simulation of the acumulation process.
