In the framework of a high energy formulation of relativistic quantum scattering, a model is presented which describes the scattering functions and polarization of irregular absorbing particles, whose dimensions are greater than the incident wavelength. More precisely, the paper defines in the forward direction an amplitude parameterization of eikonal type which generalizes the usual diffraction theory, and in the backward direction a reflective model is used including a shadow function. The model predictions are in good agreement with the scattering measurements of irregular compact and fluffy particles performed by Zerull et al. (1977).
