The unusual behavior of MXB1730-335, the rapid burster as observed by the X-ray astronomy satellite Hakucho between 8 and 22 August 1979 is examined. MXB1730-335 is a unique burst source which generates rapidly repetitive bursts lasting between a few and tens of seconds. In the present observations, however, its behavior was very different to that previously observed, in that the bursts of a trapezoidal profile were dominant. The profile is characterized by a flat top lasting between 30 s and 10 min. A long train of such trapezoidal bursts was seen for the first time and clearly revealed a new mode of the rapid burster.
