Advanced spacecraft now in development require increased attitude control capability. In many cases, only stellar sensors can furnish the high accuracy necessitated by high performance payloads. As attitude control systems become more capable, it is necessary to provide improved accuracy, flexibility, and operability in startrackers. A new generation solid state startracker, the Model CT-601, that meets today's needs for extremely high accuracy stellar sensing, and incorporates extensive programmability so that operation can be tailored to mission requirements, is described. The CT-601 is now available for a wide variety of programs.
