The nuclear magnitudes of all confirmed Seyfert 1 and 1.5 galaxies in the area covered by the first 9 Markarian lists were estimated using the color given method. A comparison with independent estimates obtained by subtracting from the observed flux the expected contribution of an appropriate template galaxy and with the nuclear magnitudes derived for 11 Seyfert 1's on the basis of detailed multicolor surface photometry, suggests that the rms errors are 0.4 mag in the U band and 0.5 mag in the B band.
