A new determination of the peculiar velocity of the Local Group of galaxies towards the Virgo cluster center is presented. This study is based on a sample of 67 E galaxies that are members of groups and clusters, with radial velocities in the range of 1000 to 7000 km/s. The relation between luminosity and effective radius (half-light) was used as a distance indicator. After correction for a derived Virgocentric velocity of 200 + or - 50 km/s, a tight correlation is obtained for this sample of the form: M(B) = 19.00 - 3.03 log R(e) (kpc). Also discussed are some possible cosmological consequences.
