A new determination of the local interstellar radiation field (LISRF) based on optical to the near-IR data is presented: for the first time, available all-sky surveys are used for a direct estimate of the LISRF. Although well constrained by the IRAS data in the infra-red (Desert et al., 1990), the optical part of the LISRF has been derived from the work of Mathis et al. (1983), who determined it indirectly through a model (since there were no reliable observations at that time). With different data sets (Hipparcos, Tycho-2, USNO-A2, COBE/DIRBE), we study the dependence of the LISRF on Galactic latitude (in 1/sin(b)). In parallel, we compare our LISRF estimate with a synthetic spectrum computed using the Hipparcos Input Catalogue.
