Results are reported from a search for Galactic-plane 1809-keV Al-26 line emission in data from high-spectral-resolution gamma-ray observations obtained on four balloon flights over Australia in 1977-1984. The instrumentation and data-reduction procedures are described in detail, and the results are presented in tables and graphs. The fluxes determined for a hypothetical point source and for a diffuse source in the direction of the Galactic center are 0.00013 + or - 0.00009 and 0.00039 + 0.00020 or - 0.00017 photons/sq cm sec, respectively, consistent with SMM and HEAO 3 observations and diffuse-source models of Al-26 emission.
