R-band CCD imaging is presented of a new merger candidate: galaxy NGC 3597. NGC 3597 is known as one of the luminous IRAS galaxies (IRAS 11122-2327) with a 60-micron flux density above 10 Jy. Its morphology is peculiar, even though it has no apparent companion galaxies. It has been found that the luminosity profile of NGC 3597 obeys the de Vaucouleurs r exp 1/4 law well, providing evidence of a merger.
