Spectroscopic observations of Hα show that star 8 in the open
cluster NGC 6871 is a previously undiscovered Be star. The Hα
profile was observed to vary from clear emission to pure absorption over
a period of ten days; later observations over a five-day interval show
weak emission along with asymmetries and filling in of the profile.
