Scientific paper
Methods for the solution of non-lte partial frequency redistribution (prd) radiative transfer problems are presented. By explicitly treating the partial frequency coherence, convergence difficulties caused by using a Complete Redistribution Approximation are completely overcome. A new core-wing treatment of the redistribution both avoids the explicit solution of the frequency coupled system, and permits the use of simple Approximate Operator Iteration to solve prd problems extremely efficiently.
