A lunar occultation of Antares (Alpha Scorpii) recorded at a wavelength of 2.43 microns with the ESO 3.6 m telescope made it possible to derive the angular diameter of this bright cool supergiant. The occultation trace has been analyzed by means of three independent data reduction techniques, and a value of 41.3 milliarcsec has been obtained for the angular diameter of Antares, with a formal error of 0.1 milliarcsec only. The agreement among the three methods is good. This result is compared with previously published determinations of the angular diameter, obtained by means of both lunar occultations and other high angular resolution techniques.
