We report on a coordinated Chandra HETGS, HST, and ground based optical study at high spectral resolution of the archetypal infrared quasar IRAS 13349+2438. The X-ray study points to a very high column density absorber which is best associated with the few hundred km/s UV absorber seen in our HST observations. Additionally, despite the high extinction, we do not see low-ionization UV absorption lines from species such as C II or Si IV. The lack of a 2200 Angstrom feature in the spectrum implies a lack of PAHs or graphite in the dust grains. In addition, our HST spectrum flattens at wavelenths below 1500 A (rest), suggesting that the extinction and scattering have become gray, and that there are few small grains in the dust distribution The implications of our multiwavelength studies will be discussed in the context of the ionization structure and location of the warm absorber.
