The G305 Giant HII region complex is a one of the richest sites of massive star formation in our Galaxy. Due to its relative closeness to the Sun (4 kpc) G305 offers a unique laboratory with which to study the formation of massive stars and the feedback and interaction process with the surrounding molecular environment. We are assembling a multiwavelength datset that will allow us to examine the star formation history and efficiency of G305 in unprecedented detail. In this proposal we request time to make a multiconfiguration mosaic of G305 at 3 and 6 cm so that we may trace the distribution of ionised gas on both small and large scales. We will make a complete census of UC HII regions in G305, measure the propagation of massive star formation into the surrounding molecular clouds, determine the properties of stellar sources within the two central clusters and determine the energy input from the central clusters to their surroundings. In combination with our infrared and molecular data, the proposed radio continuum map will permit us to examine all the star-forming components of G305 and reveal the full star formation environment of this unique region.
