We present a comprehensive multiband spectral and polarimetric study of the jet of 3C 264 (NGC 3862). Included in this study are three new HST optical and ultraviolet polarimetry data sets, along with previously published VLA radio polarimetry (Lara et al, 2004), a re-analysis of numerous HST broadband data sets from the near infrared to the far ultraviolet, and a new Chandra ACIS-S observation. We investigate similarities and differences between optical and radio polarimetry, in both degree of polarization and direction, and investigate frequency-dependent polarization in the optical. From this we place constraints on the magnetic field parameters in various regions of the jet. In addition we examine the broadband spectrum of 3C 264 from the radio to X-rays. We find significant curvature of the spectrum from the near-IR to the ultraviolet, and a significant UV excess in terms of total jet flux density. Possible reasons for this excess are presented. We attempt to characterize emission mechanisms, and mechanisms for particle acceleration. In particular we attempt to explain a peak in X-ray emission which is coincident not with the bright inner regions of the optical jet, but with the faint, diffuse outer regions.
