A flyby mission that would collect partially-intact dust samples from the comae of two comets (Tempel-1 and Tempel-2) and return them to Earth for analysis is proposed. The mission would also provide detailed measurements of the gas, dust, plasmas, and fields of cometary comae (Tempel-1, Tempel-2, and Encke), and high-resolution nucleus imaging. Returned samples and in situ measurements will provide valuable insight on the structure and primitive nature of comets, and would be extremely important in establishing comparative studies of comets. The scientific rationale and the means to carry out such a mission are discussed.
