HESS J1023-575 is an extended TeV source positionally coincident with the stellar cluster Westerlund 2 (Wd2) and the HII region RCW49. It is the only high-energy source proposed as the counterpart of a massive HII region and its ionizing cluster (Aharonian et al.2007). Wd2 hosts dozens of massive early-type stars. RCW49 has been observed with MOST and ATCA at 20+13cm (C541). At those resolutions, the radio emission from the cluster stellar components remains hidden by thermal continuum from the HII region. We propose to observe RCW49 with 4.8 and 8.64 GHz (angular resolution up to 1'') to study the radio emission, derive spectral index information and analyze the radiation regime along the extension of the HII region and Wd2. The detection of non-thermal radiation will provide a powerful tool to study the nature of the high-energy emission of HESS J1023-575. The ratio of gamma/synchrotron fluxes can be used as a discriminator for the different possible models of gamma-ray production. Based on the radio data obtained, a broadband model could be proposed to account for the nature of HESS J1023-575.
