An improved wavelength value is computed for the red coronal line on the basis of two data sets consisting, respectively, of 1500 and 5000 Doppler shifts observed at the east and west limbs of the sun. The result obtained from the larger sample is 6374.5492 + or - 0.0011 A. It is noted that the statistical accuracy is no worse than the instrument accuracy of 0.001 A.
