We have made a molecular line survey of the carbon star IRAS 15194-5115 in the 3 and 1.3 mm bands with the 15 m SEST (Swedish-ESO Submillimetre Telescope). Molecular abundances are derived and compared with those of IRC + 10216. C2H, C4H, C3H2, and SiO are more abundant in IRAS 15194-5115 by about a factor of three, while the abundances of CN, CS, SiS, HNC, SiC2, C3H, C3N, and HC3N are similar in the two sources. The C-13 species are more abundant in IRAS 15194-5115, and we derive a C-12/C-13 abundance ratio of nine, which is about five times smaller than the one in IRC+10216. The mass loss rate and the envelope expansion velocity of IRAS 15194-5115 is estimated to be 5 x 10 exp -5 solar masses/yr and 22.2 km/s, respectively.
