Scientific paper

A prototype for a small rotational modulation collimator (RMC) X-ray imaging instrument has been built and tested in the laboratory. The design and capabilities of the instruments are related to applications such as the mapping of auroral X-ray emissions from earth-orbiting platforms, as well as ground-based remote sensing. The prototype has allowed investigation of the engineering and operational problems presented by the RMC imaging concept.
