High-resolution radio continuum studies of the galactic center have revealed several spiral-like structures within the central 2 pc. The authors show that one of these structures can be modeled as the infall and tidal breakup of a small molecular cloud under the influence of the gravitational field of the center of the galaxy and a dissipative medium. The derived model parameters and model geometry imply the ejection of material near the escape velocity and the existence of a diffuse interstellar medium with a temperature of order 106K.
