A quantitative analysis has been made of Pneuman's model for a coronal streamer, resulting from the interaction between a neutral sheet in a plasma with finite conductivity, and the solar wind. Although there are very restrictive assumptions in this model, it seems to describe the expected coronal background structure with enhanced plasma density. Pneuman's analysis is modified and improved where necessary and the method is used to compute a two parameter model. A discussion is made of the method to set the parameters, based on data obtained from type III radio bursts. The influence of the free parameters on various aspects of the structure is investigated numerically.
