Observations of the radio source W3(OH) in the H56α recombination line and in the continuum at 8.2 mm have been made. The electron temperature of the H II region Te = 10400±1200K is derived. An analysis of radio observations of W3(OH) including published data is carried out. It is shown that the observed radial velocity depends on the principal quantum number. This dependence is explained by joint effects of the optical depth and expansion of the H II region. A dynamical model is proposed with an expansion velocity of Ve ≈ 18 km/s. The true radial velocity of the source V0,LSR ≈ -46 km/s is in agreement with the radial velocities of the neutral surrounding gas. An upper limit for the age of the H II region is t ≈ 600 years.
