A model of the chemical evolution with galactic age of disco galaxies was developed and used to derive the integrated spectrum from stellar photospheres for several galactic ages. The results indicate that the near-IR emission in the first few million years of galactic evolution increases with galactic age, following the development of the red giant branch, and then remains essentially constant for T equal 5 Gym or more. The model is found to reproduce well the present broad-band spectrum of our Galaxy (Perault et al., 1992) over about four decades in frequency. The bolometric luminosity of disco galaxies is found to vary only weakly for galactic ages ranging from 2 to 15 Gyr. Spiral variations over the same time interval are also relatively small.
