A model for the sun's differential rotation is developed which is based on the mechanism of angular-momentum transfer by spatially inhomogeneous turbulence, with convective heat transfer also considered. The nonlinearity associated with the dependence of the effective conductivity on the superadiabatic temperature gradient is taken into account. The model is shown to agree satisfactorily with helioseismology data and with the observed rotation of the photosphere.
