It is possible, in principle, for a self-consistent turbulence-acceleration regime to be maintained in the cloud structures of radio galaxies, with the synchrotron losses of the relativistic electrons responsible for the observed radio emission being compensated by turbulent acceleration due to Langmuir and Alfven waves. The energy source driving the Langmuir-wave turbulence would be relativistic matter ejected from the nucleus of the galaxy and relaxing in the hot-spot 'head' regions of the clouds.
