Scientific paper

The paper presents a refined version of the Korteweg-de Vries equation,
describing the propagation of large-scale, low-frequency, weakly
nonlinear gravity waves in an isothermal atmosphere. An analysis of the
solution indicates that a solitary wave does not exist in the case of
strictly horizontal propagation.
