The origin of a possible large scale structure of magnetic field in an active galactic nucleus for which the steady magnetohydrodynamic equations possess non symmetric solutions about the equatorial plane of an axisymmetric accretion disk is discussed. Such asymmetry can be related to the origin of one sided VLBI (very long base interferometry) jets in bright extragalactic radio sources.
