NIR observations of the Venus nightside revealed unexpected brightness inhomogeneity. It has been speculated that this results from spatially and temporally varying optical depths in the middle, condensational Venus cloud. It has been hypothesized that complete evaporation of the cloud has occurred in regions of higher observed brightness temperatures. I am using CARMA (Community Aerosol and Radiation Model Atmosphere) to model the Venusian middle cloud deck in order to help discern whether this hypothesis is consistent with the known characteristics of the Venusian atmosphere.
