For an exact self-similar solution for the case of a spatially homogeneous dust-like sphere, a metric inside matter is identified and the existence of a map with complex time, whereto matter retreats at the stage of compression and wherefrom it reemerges at the stage of expansion, is demonstrated. The existence of such a map indicates a complex topology and violates the main assumption of topological singularity theorems, i.e., the existence of capture surfaces. The possibility of the transition from compression to expansion without a singularity of the infinite density type is examined.
