Telescopes: Alignment
Scientific paper
This paper gives a method of determining the deviation of the telescope polar axis pointing to the North Pole. Its principle is that the length of star images during photographic tracking without guiding can be measured. Taking into account the effect of atmospheric refraction, one can get the length caused by the deviation of polar axis and then determine the deviation by means of spherical trigonometric calculation. It will be easy to adjust the polar axis of the telescope according to the result.
