The clean algorithm often employed for the deconvolution of Fourier synthesis point spread functions from radio astronomy images is presently subjected to a simple and inexpensive modification which stabilizes the well known instability it exhibits when applied to the estimation of the visibility function is unsampled regions of the u,v-plane. Attention is given to the use of the algorithm, thus modified, in the reduction of VLA C-configuration observations of SGR-A made at 20 cm by Ekers et al. (1982).
