A convenient method is proposed for calculating a satellite orbit from azimuth, range, and height-above-horizon measurements carried out during intervals of time that are small compared to the period of revolution. The method is based on a certain approximation of satellite motion. The three steps in the computer-aided solution of the problem are outlined, and the results of calculations, in which the eccentricity and height of orbit, the number of observations, the rms measurement error, and other parameters were varied, are examined.
