A number-magnitude plot for a large sample of images was constructed and compared with a number of simulated curves representing different values of the cosmological deceleration parameter. One of the parameters, which is denoted A, used in the investigation is a measure of the area of an image above the computed sky background. The log (N)-log A relationship showing best fit curve to observed data is presented in a graph. The result of the investigation provides for the deceleration parameter a value of 0.8.
