The growth of the along-track errors of celestial orbits in a symplectic integrator is linear with time. This is due to that the symplectic integrator describes exactly the flow of a perturbed Hamiltonian system. The characteristics of a symplectic integrator is used to put forward a way of estimating the along-track errors, thus the numerical results can be compensated by the corresponding along-track errors. The numerical results show that the compensative effect is remarkable in the long-term integration with a larger time step.
