Based on the structural similarity of models of stars having like masses and the same evolutionary status, as well as on the geometrical similarity of the evolutionary tracks of stars of different masses on the Hertzsprung-Russell (H-R) diagram, an algorithm for determination of the mass and age of a star based on its position relative to evolutionary tracks has been developed. The proposed method allows, via a special division of evolutionary tracks into intervals, determination of the mass and age of a star in any region of the H-R diagram that is covered by a grid of tracks. Comparison with the masses of binary stars known from observations and with the ages of open clusters obtained using independent calibration methods indicate the correctness of the proposed procedure.
