A mechanism of the pulsar PSR 0531+21 optical radiation is suggested. In the framework of this mechanism, the main features of the optical radiation of PSR 0531+21 are explained: the anomalous narrowness of the main pulse top, the existence of linear polarization and the changes of its degree, variations of the position angle, non-coincidence of the polarization degree minimum with the intensity maximum, the intensity fall in the infrared region.
