The infrared color magnitude relation for spiral galaxies has been re-examined, using the Bothun et al. (1985b) catalog of distant cluster spirals. The catalog is found to suffer from a considerable amount of Malmquist bias. When the analysis of the color magnitude relation is restricted to a sub-sample of the catalog selected to be without Malmquist bias, it is found that the data is in overall agreement with a color magnitude relation defined by galaxies in the Virgo cluster. In addition, it is demonstrated that the distribution of spatial orientations of the galaxies varies from cluster to cluster. In particular it is demonstrated that the distribution of galaxy orientations differ from that in Virgo in the clusters where there is a large discrepancy between color magnitude determined distance and redshift.
