We make suitable modifications of Osherovich's return-flux model of sunspots and take the centre of the spot for our boundary conditions. The five main parameters of the model are evaluated from the observations, using a semi-empirical method to find the magnetic field, pressure and temperature of the static model. A particular solution was obtained for a medium-sized, circularly symmetric spot, showing that our model both satisfies the magnetic properties and gives reasonable distributions of the thermodynamic quantities.
