The Moon is a superb gravity-gradient stabilized satellite from which to accomplish a wide variety of astrophysical observations. It lacks only instrumentation. We discuss the Lunar Transit Telescope (LTT) Project which proposes to place on the lunar surface simple, stationary telescopes which use the Moon as a stable platform from which to accomplish large area, high resolution surveys of the Universe over many octaves of the electromagnetic spectrum. The basic observational principle involves use of charge coupled devices (CCD) detectors continuously operated in the 'time-delay and integrate' (TDI) readout mode. Data, which are returned directly to Earth, can be used to address a very large set of astrophysical problems ranging from solar system to cosmological investigations.
