Searches at 85 and 150 microns of the molecular cloud L 1551 have
resulted in the discovery of an embedded source of total luminosity
approximately 25 solar luminosities. Its position coincides with an
obscured, near-infrared point source and with a gas density peak. It is
suggested that the embedded object is a low-mass pre-main-sequence star.
