Optical Pumping, Cesium Beam Frequency Standard, Digital Auxiliary Lock, Laser Frequency Automatic Lock
Scientific paper
A portable laser system, continually working for very long period, is the key part in realization of an optically pumped cesium beam frequency standard. Our laser system, using semiconductor laser diode with microprocessor digital auxiliary lock and computer control techniques, could be automatically locked to a present frequency and continually locked there for long period. Two sets of the laser system, working on pumping frequency and probing frequency respectively, are installed together with a cesium beam tube and a frequency control electronics set, forming a set of optically pumped cesium beam frequency standard. This frequency standard has been continually working for more than 2 years and its accuracy and stability are at the same level as the HP 5061 cesium beam frequency standard. To our knowledge, this frequency standard is the first set of Chinese-made small cesium beam frequency standard, having continually worked for more than two years, and it is also the first set of optically pumped small cesium beam frequency standard having continually worked for more than two years in the world.
