A new method for the computation of velocities and other physical parameters of fireballs is proposed. The method is based on the use of correlation between the velocity of a fireball and the density of Earth's atmosphere. A sample of 207 Prairie network fireballs with highly precise data is investigated by means of this method. The most precise results for 72 fireballs are presented. The fireballs are separated with confidence into two types: those with meteoritic material and those with cometary material of densities no less than 2 and 1.5 g/cu cm, respectively.
