The authors examine the growth of linear perturbations of adiabatic shells of the shocked interstellar gas surrounding a strong stellar wind. The shells are overstable if the adiabatic index γ ⪉ 1.1, and most overstable for the wavelengths comparable to the thickness of the shell. The shells of the wind-driven bubbles are generally more stable than those of blast waves. The implications of these results are discussed.
