We present the first volume-limited Spitzer-IRS search for AGN activity in the most bolometrically luminous galaxies (LIR≈~(0.3--20)~× 1010~L&sun;)} to D<15~Mpc. We unambiguously identify AGNs in ≈~27% of the galaxies, ≈~50% of which are not identified with optical spectroscopy. We discover that the optically unidentified AGNs have comparable luminosities to the optically identified AGNs and are hosted in a wide range of galaxy types (S0--Sd). However, by constrast, we find that optically unidentifed AGNs are more likely to reside in heavily dust-obscured starburst galaxies than optically identified AGNs.
