The cores of jets from black holes share a number of common features for a range in jet power and black hole mass. We argue that this similarity can be understood in the context of scale invariance of the underlying jet physics. Based on this insight, one can derive generic, model independent relations between the accretion physics and the jet spectrum and luminosity. We show that these relations are consistent with the recently found correlation between black hole mass, radio luminosity, and X-ray luminosity. This comparison also indicates that synchrotron emission from the jet is probaby not the dominant source of the X-rays in this sample. We conclude by poiting out some astrophysical applications of this analytic tool.
